My Journey

I am a passionate, persistent, and creative game designer currently pursuing a bachelor's in Media Arts and Science at Indiana University Indianapolis. My journey began as a kid who loved the Pokémon franchise and was eager to learn more about the games I adored. In high school, I dove into game design and discovered the magic of creating interactive experiences. This passion led me to specialize in building immersive worlds, coding innovative game mechanics, and designing intuitive UI. I am proficient in Unity, C#, Unreal, Godot, and level design, and I continually apply this knowledge to my work to further my understanding of game design and development.

I aspire to work as a game designer at Square Enix (Octopath Traveler) or Intelligent Systems (Fire Emblem), where I can contribute to the JRPG or tactical RPG genre. I want players to carefully weigh the strategic value of their moves and the risks involved, such as deciding whether to sacrifice a beloved character to save a village or complete an objective at the cost of abandoning the innocent.

When I’m not designing games, I enjoy diving into different genres of video games for personal enjoyment. Currently, I’m in my roguelike era, playing many games like 9Kings and Elden Ring Nightreign (more hours than in Elden Ring). I hope you enjoy exploring my work and gaining insight into my perspective on the gaming industry!

My Honors Journey:  Who I was

I WAS
I WANTED TO BE

"I am a problem solver who can solve every problem given to me. With my determination and persistence, I will not stop until I find a proper solutions. Even through hardship, I try to keep a good mental mindset, as having a good mental attitude is what is needed to solve problems. I have confidence in these skills and will use them to further myself and others."

"At this moment in time, I do not have many goals for myself regarding academics, and I know I can succeed. Being an honors student will help me achieve these goals by pushing me to grow personally and socially. I want to retain my cool, gain confidence when talking to others, and make lifelong connections. I struggle with my anger toward certain types of people, which makes it difficult to form friendships, especially when I feel uninterested or bored in conversations. I am very introverted and often stay in my comfort zone, but I hope that becoming an honors student will help me step outside of it and build meaningful connections within the honors community."

I was a recent high school graduate who felt uncertain about my place in the gaming industry and unsure of who I wanted to become professionally. I had an interest in game development but lacked a clear direction, which made it difficult to define long-term goals. However, I knew that I had one goal, I wanted to build friendships and feel more connected to the people around me, but my introverted nature often kept me reserved, and I recognized that I needed to grow both socially and technically.

Journey Maps: Past/Present

My goals have shifted from simply "saving time" to maximizing impact. I am no longer just a student who likes Pokémon; I am a designer with a refined toolkit that includes indie development experience and cross-cultural communication skills.

My ultimate goal now is to become a game designer in the professional industry. I plan to take the "403 tips to live by" from my past and combine them with the "refined capstone" of my present to create games that, like my mentors, cause "much change" and spread "goodwill".
